tomdawson Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Hi guys, Also posted something similar in the VLE forum but thought I might have more luck here in MIS. We've just got Frog installed and went live with teachers this week. We've had people complaining that there's no way of emailing for example all Year 12 tutors. No problem we thought...just go and create a new group called "Year 12 tutors" and assign the users to that group. Great. However when you're logged in as anyone other than a full administrator you cannot see that group. It appears that groups are only available if they're MIS groups. So, my question to you is: basically a SIMS question. Any ideas how we create 'groups' of people in SIMS and subsequently how we allocate people to that group? (which will in turn be picked up by the FROG MIS Extractor.) Thanks, Hope you can help. Tom.
vikpaw Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I don't know if it will get picked up by Frog, but you can create a user defined group UDG in SIMS that can contain students, contacts, employees etc. Focus | Groups | User Defined Groups Name your group with something appropriate and then from the Action button below you can search for a select members of that group. Just change the drop down at the top right to be employees if you want tutors. 1
superfletch Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 You could also do it through Assessment Manager (very similar to the last way - but Assessment User Defined instead of User Defined group).
tomdawson Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks guys, I'll let you know how we get on. Just to add to the problem our Sims Extractor thing appears to be broken at the moment so we won't know if this has worked until that's sorted! Cheers, Tom
