Well today was re-ghost and test the systems put in place for real and I now have 20 new machines re-ghosted and all doing GPO installs quite happily without choking.

 

Course there was one fly in the ointment... I forgot to get a clean install of the slightly older machines so that's on the go now but it seems a lot of hard work has paid off..

 

In amongst all of this I can't help but try to share the joy at the success with some staff members but sadly they can't appreciate just how hard it's all been... Ah well.. perhaps I'll just have to accidentally disable key computers and wait till they get the hint... *cue: angelic batting of eyelashes*

 

 

 

All in all though a good day... Now if only the projector people had gotten back to me...

The only things we've bought from RM are 3 servers, and 60 machines; all of 3 years ago. Since then it's only been 2 bulk CC3 license packs which cost less since there were more. PC hardware from The IT Support Centre (over 75% cheaper than any other we could find) and printers from XMA. Everything else we run in-house, and we delve deep into the bowels of Windows when necessary.

And of course there's always ASSM (Assigned Software Sequence Manager) to change the order of installs within a particular GPO.

 

Where can I find ASSM. Google & Co. says the tool isn't available any more... But: I need it
