S7000 updates....

Hi there Edugeek(ers),

 

Just a short note this morning to make you aware of some of the new Open Storage stuff here at Sun.

 

CPUs

The S7110 now has the new 6-core processors which replace the original 4-core processors. The good news is that there is no price difference

 

The S7310 also has the new 6-core processors as well and again there is no price difference.

 

I've not seen the new performance figures for the S7310 or the S7110 but based on what we saw with the S7410 it's only going to get better.

 

Newbies

For those of you new to the S7000 or are looiking for consolidated storage for your VMs, student and staff data then here's a good starting point:

If I get another 7410 head to go with my existing one and cluster them, will the newer Istanbul model play nicely with my older Barcelona model, and will I get any benefits from the faster head or will it have to run at the speed of the older one?
