VPN. Should I use server2003 or openVPN?

Hi,

I want to allow staff access to the network drives from home and wanted to know what others are using. Server2003 has VPN built in and Openvpn looks nice and easy to setup.

 

What are others using? or alternative recommendations to achieve this goal.

Personally I have never had any problems with 2003 VPN, quite easy to set up as well.

 

Just make sure you use IPsec over L2TP if your security concious rather than PPTP

OpenVPN requires a single UDP port. I'm not sure what Server2003 requires.

Are you behind a firewall which you do not control? e.g. with a RBC. In which case you may have issues using an IP protocol other than UDP, TCP (or ICMP).

windows box as a VPN nooo...

 

try using adito (vpn als http://sourceforge.net/projects/openvpn-als/). (web based vpn/ aslo can run a vpn client)

 

if you wish to have a permemnet vpn try endian firewall..
