arthur231283 Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I want to start taking a tape backup off site once a term but want to ensure that it is encrypted so if it did go missing no one could get to the data (Or it would be hard to get the data). I have a Disk to Disk to Tape Setup using Backup Exec 11d. I have had a look in the settings but cant find where I can create an encrypted backup. Firstly can I create an encrypted back with backup exec? Secondly if I can, how do I do it? Thanks
Slewis Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) Firstly: Yes. Secondly: Look at the backup job's properties, then choose "Network and Security" from the left pane, and click for "new encryption key" on the right. Your choices are 128AES or 256AES. You should note that for the full benefit of 256bit AES, you'd need to use a key of 64 characters. (128bit requiring 32 characters) Edited December 3, 2009 by Slewis Correction to key lengths 2
