Hi Guys,

 

I'm having a bit of a problem getting a Xibo Client to talk to the Server. The client says it's waiting for a license from an admin. I've logged on to the servers web page using https and looked under 'Management', 'Displays' and all I get is a spinning wheel with 'Please Wait'. The display I want to authorise does not appear here.

 

Any help would be much appreciated

How many displays do you have running. You havent by any chance imaged them as xibo uses the hard drive volumen number to identify different displays.

1 display, no imaging. Complete fresh install. This is on a test bed. So Server 2003 VM running XAMPP and Xibo 1.04 server. Then a XP SP3 client VM. Client says "waiting for server to authorise". Server just sits with 'spinning wheel' and never lists the clients to be authorised.

when you say server sits with spinning wheel can you do a screen shot.

 

sound to me like there server isn’t listening... however if you can get access to the web admin panel it should be working...

 

Password correct?

Turned off!

 

do other items under the mangment tab work?

 

just a thought have you check permissions on the web directory.

 

what version of xibo are you running?

Don't appear to. Just tried adding a user and it dumped me back at the servers home screen. Is this a Server03 issue? Should I try using XP as the server os?

I have a feeling its to do with the security certificate.

Just tried changing to http:// and same issue. I'm going to give both VM's a reboot and try again with http://

 

would be worth checking permissions of the web directory xibo is installed into.. try giving full permission just as a test..

I'll do this before I restart the services, just waiting for the VM's to boot.

what server software are you running.. linux apache? php version?

Windows 2003 R2 with latest XAMPP and latest Xibo.

 

I have been googling and a few people are experiencing xamp issues with php..

 

could i sugest you have a look at your php.ini

 

Please try commenting out "extension=php_domxml.dll" from your php.ini file and restarting Apache.

 

also try using this link: http://ip/xibo/index.php?p=display&

 

also have you followed the instructions at http://wiki.xibo.org.uk/wiki/Install_Guide_Xibo_Server

 

p.s. if you can get to the managment part and settings, error and turn debuging and server mode test

Cannot find this entry in php.ini

Still same results - 'please wait ...'

Yep, followed those instructions first.

I’m stumped.. only thing I can think of is you didn’t get a complete download of xibo..

 

Reinstall??

Yeah, I think I'm going to put it away for today. Thanks for your help. Looking into it I'd rather get Xibo working than use Digital Recall. I think I'll install version 1.03 on a XP VM as the server and see what happens...

Ye. iv installed it loads of times before never seen it behave like that...

 

i must admit i always install on linux server..

I might just crack yet and use Linux! The fact is we are so Windows centric here I'm not too keen introducing non-Windows without a good reason.

 

@Ben, I hope the SAN recomposed itself. Nothing too serious I hope. Last time I had a SAN have an hissy fit the school was without servers for half a day :o

I've had it running on windows xp using WAMP.

 

Did you try a reinstall? of both xampp & xibo.

 

Also well worth asking on the xibo bug forum, you will proberly get a response in a few hours.
