Rawns Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I take it your installing it off a CD? if so, does it work OK on any other computers? 1
Dukey Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 no im installing from .exe file we have it saved on a drive on the server, we havent had trouble in the past only with this computer
DrPerceptron Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Have you got 1.5gb of free space? (office 2010 wants 2-3gb!?) I think if you run the install manually without any automation it usually gives you something less cryptic. Also check Event Viewer see if there are any MSIInstaller errors that might point you in the right direction. 1
linkazoid Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Ive had this before, this has worked for me on many occasions. 1: Completely remove all versions of office install 03, 07 and office compatibility packs. 2: Delete Microsoft Office folder from Program Files. 3: Get an XP CD or a local cached i386 folder open FP40EXT.CAB in the root of the folder. Find the file fpault.dll within the cab (it may be called fpault.dl_ so rename to fpault.dll ) 4: copy file to c:\program files\common files\microsoft\shared\web server extensions\40\bin 5: rerun installation again. Cache Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I had this while I was testing potentially deploying Office 2007 through Group Policy, initially the problem was that for some reason my cab files had lost the digital signature. If you right click on a couple of the files in the setup directory and go to properties and you can check the digital signature in there. 1
RichCowell Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I'm having this exact same problem... All of a sudden, two of the machines in an IT Suite started configuring office when loading. Office 2007 was installed as well as 2003, so we removed 2003. No joy... Uninstalled Office 2007, now it won't let me reinstall it. I've tried all sorts, removing Office 2007 via RevoUninstaller, Microsoft Windows Installer Removal tool thing, been Googling for ages... There are no errors in the event logs, but the only suspiscious looking entries show that the Office removal was successful, even after I've just tried installing it. I've tried reinstalling from 2 different locations... If anyone can suggest anything to try to resolve this I would be keen to hear... If not we'll have to resort to re-imaging, but it'd be good to have a solution in case it crops up again... 1
