teaming intel nics

I am trying to team a couple of intel nics

just need to know if i need to assign a seperate ip address to both nics and then assign one to the virtual nic that is created when you enable teaming.

No need to assign ip's individually to the nic's, just need to assign one to the team.

thanks mate, i did a few internet searches but was unable to get a guide on setting this up.

You can download a broadcom utility which is wizard based, broadcom net xtreme I think it was called, obviously only works on broadcom adapters.

Intel do their own management software for this & I think the Broadcom utility requires at least one card to be Broadcom.

I never had any luck teaming intel NICs, it never worked properly. I think it was down to the switch being set wrong, but no matter what I did it never worked.

 

Might have another bash at it sometime, see if I can suss it out this time round. Intel have their own utility to do it, should come with the network drivers for that NIC if it supports teaming.
