I am currentlly looking to set mandatory profiles on our system for staff and students

Of course I need one for Windows 7 & one for Windows XP

Now what I would like to do is make all the restrictions actually in the mandatory profile instead of have a policy set for all the restrictions, this should also enable the students and staff to logon quicker (Just have a policy for their network document redirection, or a logon script instead)

Is there a program that allows me to tick restrictions, logon to the account, and the log off and use the copy to profile tool

I found one program called Microsoft Steadystate, which works fine expect one part, It leaves the start menu settings box in the classic start menu box

Steadystate doesnt work for Windows 7, so need another tool that is compatable to do this, would prefere the same tool for both if there is one

So basiclly what other programs are there to do this with

or is there a list of registry files I can use

Or do you reckon to carry on with the polices? (We dont normally change the student and staff policys, so once its setup, it problery will stay the same settings)

Thanks in advance!

never mind guys

Had a brainwave (Hopefully this will work, will test Monday)

Just gonna set all the restrictions by group policy

make them apply to the account

then use the copy profile tool

then disable the policy (Will keep it, has if I need to make changes at a later date, this will make it easy, than having to make the policy from scratch) has it shouldnt be needed has all the restrictions should have appled to the account

reanme to .MAN and test

Hopefully working, if so make a staff mandatory xp profile, then a student and staff windows 7 one

That way all I need for those accounts is their Network documents and possiblly faviourts redirected

Would you advise a script or a policy for just that? Will have to have a default printer script running too

Damn Have Too Much To Do!

The Long List Of Things To Do:

- W7 & XP Mandatory Profile Setup (Seperate Ones For Student & Staff)

- Make A Script For Location Based Start Menu

- Repackage Certain Applications For W7

- New XP Image (Update)

- Setup W7 Image - Think I Need To Do Both 32Bit & 64 Bit :(

- Setup A Brand New School Website, VLE, Ticket Support Site

- Upgrade Servers to 2008R2

- Update Invertory (Need To Go Round All The School)

- Build 4 Classrooms Worth Of Computers, or Find A Decent Quote For Pre Made Ones

- Deploy W7 On Classroom Computers & Student & Staff Laptops, and Office Computers

- Radius Server Possablly (Fed Up Entering Wireless Keys To A Set Of Laptops)

- Maybe Some Other Stuff I Cant Think Of Now
