aspire 3053

Hi

I have an Aspire 3053 WXMi which when started up would load Window in the normal fashion but the mouse pad and keyboard wouldnt work, a usb mouse would work ok but the keyboard doesnt.

 

I tried to make a recovery disc set but it ejected the last disc every time so I gave up on that.

 

I tried to use alt f10 to restore default setting but the same problem remained so I then tried to use a genuine windows Xp professional disc to install window (think that was a mistake) as with window reistalled the same problem exhists but the alt f10 is no longer working

 

the one thing that I have noticed is that the Power Meter doesnt shut down when closing Windows and if you go into it in device manager Power Meter it freezes and refuses to close no matter how often you use the end now option

 

unfortunatly when joining internet I am unable to type so can access any sites on the laptop

 

my question is would this make a good fishing weight

 

any help would be appreciated

It sounds like the ribbon cable which connects the keyboard and trackpad to the motherboard has come loose. If the laptop is still in warrenty get them to fix it. If not you can either try to do it yourself or take it to a local computer shop. It's not a big job and should cost about £40 (ish). Edited November 22, 2009 by Dos_Box
