MSI deployment via active directory

Hi guys,

Right the head of IT Support has given me the pleasure of researching about MSI deployment via the active directory but i have a problem where do i start:doh:. Tried googleing but theres nothing but rubbish on there have any of you got a site in mind that explains it. Don't need pictures but if there is its a nice bonus :)

plenety of info on here. Basically you get teh application in msi form and (often if its adobe) correct the mistakes, add your serial number, config, and deploy it in GP.

Or if it isnt an MSI you look inside the exe incase the msi is packaged up inside (which it quite often is). Or if its not you use a snapshot type program like WinInstallLE to package it up, or you script it with "application.exe /veryquiet" etc.

What server are you running?

 

Generally, you want to use the Group Policy Snap in, create a new GPO on the Organisational Unit you want to install software into, and use the Software Settings of the Computer Management part to distribute installs.
