I've had this SATA external enclosure for a while. I've used it to ghost laptop drives but have just got a WD 1.5TB drive for it. I've tried to install it on 4 different machines and it won't go. They recognise the device but don't install it. I put the drive into another system and partitioned it, so that's ok and the enclosure was working last week.

Any ideas please?

The enclosure might not support 1.5tb. I had an old one i tried with a 1TB drive early on in the year it wouldn't work. Works fine with a 320GB

That would answer it - BUM :(

Just found the spec. Supports up to 400GB.

Can anyone suggest a low-cost enclosure that supports 1.5TB please? I've looked at a few specs and they don't mention maximum capacity.

I thoroughly recommend any of the sata docking ports that are going around for 15-20 quid currently. Got a cheap £12 Sumvision one here: supports any size sata drive, no size limit (it's worked from 40gb to 2tb tested so far) and has both USB and eSata - complete lifesaver and damned, damned useful :D

The original one was £12 did 3.5 and 2.5 AND had a memory card reader, think its not as good a deal tbh.

But, by the time you've added delivery, faffed around with credit cards and waited because there's no stock! :)

I didn't notice the other one did 2.5".
