Removing from "Safely Remove Hardware" thingy

Personal issue which I've just encountered

 

Bought a shiney new hard drive (if anyone wants performance with price, the samsung F3 drives are absolutely unbeatable!) to replace my RAID 5 setup with. Removed RAID from the bios, slapped it all in an AHCI, and away I went. Performance is absolutely wonderful - read speed WAY in excess of the RAID and write isn't far off - which is ruddy amazing (or of course shows how bad FakeRAID is )

 

However, as a result, all of my HDD's show up in "Safely Remove Hardware". I can easily get rid of that, lots of google hits from it - however I just want to remove the static HDD's from that list. I use a sata docking station thing (most useful gadget I own!) so I do need it for that. Any hints? I'm at a loss, and leaving them there is ruddy risky!

 

And yes, before anyone asks, it appears I do have a subconscious fetish for brackets

Disable Write behind caching and they'll be ok. and won't appear in the safely remove anymore.

With my external HDD, it has its own icon in the System Tray. Right click on that and there's a 'Disconnect this drive' option. I use that because it's safer.

Thankfully a driver update (unofficial) had solved the issue
