Windows 7 RC VERY slow

Hi all.

 

Ok ive been using 7 since beta and RC, and have had the RC installed on a acer travelmate 5720 since it was released.

 

Today i switched my laptop on and it took 5mins to login and then the system suddenly went VERY VERY slowly, when i mean slowly i mean it took 1 hour to boot into safe mode, login, move 5 files totalling 2gb from one partition to the other (on the same hdd) and then reboot.

 

Has anyone got an idea what the issue is? everything runs slowly or hangs, my CPU light is constantly on but task manager shows little or no cpu utilization.

 

If i click on something that requires a lot of CPU time it seems to take an age to open.

 

And just in case someone asks if its a hardware issue it isnt as i installed win7 pro to my other partition and its working perfectly.

afraid not, run a virus and malware scan on the whole hard disk.

 

Nothing comes up at all.

 

Its like there is a service or process bottlenecking the memory or cpu but the issue is also in safe mode which leads me to beleive something is up with the core of 7.

 

Lost my rc disk so cant do a repair which sucks.

 

Life goes on, was able to salvage my files and such so its not a total loss.
