firefox config or tweak

Been googling for a bit now and not dug anything up that actually helps, basically got an internal intranet type page thats located on a network drive ie R: Drive and works fine in internet explorer but if you try and click on any links that point to the R drive ie

 

R:\Folder_One\Folder_Two\File.XXX

 

I get an error message along the lines of the attached screen grab - any ideas ?

Saw a few posts mentioning changing the paths but I cant do that as dont have control to do so
