Virtual Box and linux

I have a 2 laptops, both with Virtual Box installed, i installed OpenSuse 11.1 and OpenSolaris 2009.06 on one and it works fine installs then boots in to the GUI. same install on the other laptop and i just Command line login for Solaris. and a black screen or cmd line login for Suse. any ideas?

both laptops same spec and OS software load? Same version of virtual box?

 

Is it a case of not having a working X install on the borked ones?

Can you not just copy the working VMs onto the other machine? or are you saying that you did this and now they aren't working on this machine?

they are not the same spec. how ever it did use to work fine on the laptop in question.

Any errors in the logs/messages files. ?

 

In OpenSolaris - see which services have failed to start and why

$ svcs -xv

That SUSE one happens for me sometimes, try opening it and then expanding to full screen then doing nothing (sometimes you need to do it a second time) and waiting for it to load up.
