@gatt - whitelist 3plearning.com - thats where the flash file I see get blocked on mathletics is coming from.

Meanwhile we will work on tweaking the filter to be less aggressive.

Just to add on from what Toms said...

I have had to look in the page source to see where some of the .swfs are coming from (samlearning was one) you need to permit platform.samlearning.com in this case to get it to work with flash filtering enabled.

To get mathletics working you need to allow:

mathletics.co.uk

mathletics.com

images.3plearning.com

static.3plearning.com

mathletics.com.au

scs.mathletics.com

hof.3plearning.com

worldmathsday.com

It will then run fine :)

entering 3plearning.com into the whitelist will do the job - you dont need the images or static parts - same with mathletics (though you still need one per .com and .co.xx etc

Worth noting that there are actually rules in "audio video" to block flash video players - at present you can't separate this from the rest of the AV category, but we may do this if it poses a problem.

So - if you have "Audio Video" blocked, you will get more flash blocked than you may have expected.

Well thats weird as that was the first I permitted.. still didn't work so I went through the whole of the page source and permitted every entry  oh well at least its working.

I'd go for a regex block on sand.?.jar for now. Linkazoid, if you need help, let me know and I will have nile take a look monday.

Could someone post here how to add regex blocks?

Also another 2 sites to add to the block list:

12play4fun.com and seantcooper.com

Some of the flash content was blocked :D but not all :(

As Tom said, for the sand game you could try using sand.?\.jar in that section.

That would block files of the form sand1.jar, sand7.jar, sandX.jar and simply sand.jar

Hi Nile,

Many thanks for posting that sheet, should come in handy in the future, Can I add sand.?\.jar as it is or do I have to add it in ( ) the rollover example is not clear.

Thanks

Yes, you would add the above "as-is".

The example within the interface is slightly different, it is showing you a grouping (the parens) containing alternation, where the pipe (|) is a logical OR.

ie. Match ( this | that | somethingelse )

Hope that helps. :D

Hi Tom and Nile,

I have a collection of swf's here from a perticular user today, 75 in total of various games that I haven't seen kids playing but obviously must be from the web. Would you like me to host them so you can download and add them to the filter. Or I could possibly MD5 them if thats all you need...

@linkazoid: sorry for slow response. Nile and I have been in the southampton office all day, and havent had much forum access. Slowly realising how much I hate the keyboard on this dell laptop, so excuse any spellos.

Anyhoo - we would love to grab these flash files, we don't base filtering on md5, we actually examine the file, so we will just need to invent a few new rules for these badboys. We may add MD5 at a later date just for fun tho.

If you want to zip them up and put them on sendspace.com or similar, or host them yourself, that would be great. Alternatively a list of URLs and I can wget then all :)

Thanks a lot for helping out!

Tom
