Not renaming after imaging

I have a FOG system running and have syspreped and imaged a win7 machine. I have also installed Netdom via RSAT. But it is not renaming or joining the domain.

 

How do I force the Fog service to do this?

Is there any mention of 'TaskReboot' in the log? If there is, please post that section. If not, ensure that you've enabled the 'Task Reboot' service option for the hosts you want to rename.

Well there is your problem, this rings a few bells actually. I'll have a dig around and see what I can find.

 

edit: Ah I think this is due to your AD credentials, did you use fogcrypt.exe to encrypt the password?

Got it. I set the password in the Fog service but not the AD part of the host.

 

Rebooted now. Just getting access denied from netdom now.

 

Getting there.

Before you add any AD intergration make sure the host name changer is working correctly.

 

If this is not AD will also fail.

 

Verify that the name is properly set via the webgui (the mac address for that pc is set to the name you want).

 

On ever restart of the pc the host checks in with the server only once to make sure it has the right name. If not it will restart, if it does it will ignore it.

 

You can speed this process up by going to services.msc ----> fog service ----> restart.

 

Do your testing that way. Once this is working correctly focus on AD... as others have mentioned make sure the password is encrypted using fogcrypt. Also some others have mentioned in the past that md5 packages were not installed correctly on their fog version (check the supplied links above).
