Shutting the door after the horse etc etc thinking about getting a laptop lock for use in a public area in school, daft question do all locks fit all laptops?

I'm looking for a visual deterrant - looking at the cheap versions of these locks a pair of sharp scissors looks as though they could cut through the cable, just trying to deter the opportunist tea leafs.:)

Aye, deterrent is half the war won :D Know what you mean with some of the cheap ones, a school of mine bought a load for some "static" laptops and you could probably get through those with the plastic scissors you get in nursery! :D

Just make sure that when people use them they don't simply hook them round the leg of the desk they are using; I remember one being stolen by simply lifting the desk at a place I worked at previously :)

We buy ours from the local £1 shop and when we couldn't find a key for one it took a lot of cutting off. Having said that we only regard them (even the expensive ones) as a minor deterrent mainly to stop staff and kids moving laptops around withoug telling us

Thread resurrection!

I'm trying to find about 100 keyed alike ones - Hills don't have any in stock, and I need them quite soon... anybody know anywhere they might be available?
