Despite me 'helping him along with several ALT + F4's as he was about to hit his hi score, he kept going back to the gaming site in question. Although I added the URL to our filter, it wasn't kicking in quick enough, so I thought I'd add the workstation to the IAM Disabled group in LANview in the interim. Trouble is, I can't remove it now, so anyone that logs into that machine can't use Internet Explorer it seems! I've ticked the "all manual removal of stations" under options, and the station does disappear out of the IAM Disabled group, but it still shows up as a banned station in the ALL STATIONS group, and then when I go back into IAM Disabled group, it is there again! I can't seem to 'unlock' this station from the banned group! help!! Is there a batch file that can be edited somewhere? The disabled station doesn't appear on my colleagues list as disabled, and indeed, when my LANview isn't running, the user can use IE; as soon as I fire up LANview, they get kicked off IE! This suggests there is something local to my machine that is broadcasting out to the client, perhaps? Edited October 15, 2009 by theeldergeek

Navigate to C:\Program Files\MST Software\LanView3 Server\Bindaries (or whatever your install path is) In the folder you will see a file called "Groups.Bind" Open this with a text editor, i.e. Notepad. Scroll down until you see an entry similar to "machine_name","IAM Disabled" Delete that entry, save the file, restart LANview

Keep up. Very helpful, especially to those who might have this particular problem as well. Would you care to share your 'work-around'? (I think you've just established a new level of arrogance there.)

I reconsidered my answer as it took place following a 350 mile drive, and I wasn't in the best frame of mind to convey what I was actually thinking. However, you failed miserably to acknowledge I was in actual fact more than helpful with an earlier reply, which really pi$$ed me off, if you must know. But, I don't actually need to explain anything, really I don't, as there is nothing further to explain. I haven't a) had any opportunity to re-visit the problem since and b) what I did to resolve the problem worked, so what's the point in me explaining something that didn't work previously? As for the arrogance, take it or leave it. It wasn't intended, but to be honest, today, I don't really care.

You chose to accuse me of not being helpful. You chose to ignore the fact I had posted my workaround previously. I simply chose the right to reply.

You chose to respond with 'It didn't work' which as i'm sure you appreciate, is not very helpful. I asked for more information. You responded with a message that would insult anyone. When you've calmed down from your long drive, and wake up in a better mood, you might like to re-look at your posts. Only then will you realise how downright rude you were. In looking at the previous posts, your work around is not the right way of removing a group and I want to help you fix it. I don't think editing the local db is an acceptable solution to the problem you have. If you can't remove objects from groups I want to fix it but I can't because you won't provide me with more information.
