bottletop Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hi All, I am having a problem of a user removing the network cable from the NED box. Due to the layout the NED box has to be in a class room due to space. I am trying to find a scipt that can be run from the server and then send a pop up message to the teaching staff every 10 minutes or so until the cable has been reinstalled. The reason this is needed is that I am only on site usually every other week and so this would be an ideal solution for them to quickly resolve themselves. Many thanks

bottletop Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 You would think that a poster and lables next to the network point would do the trick but this did not work. some people do not read before acting

mac_shinobi Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You could ammend attached hta along with hostlist.txt hostlist.txt stores and keeps the list of all the hosts / ip addresses you want to monitor the hta you can run or keep minimized and you can change the time it runs to every 10 seconds or how every often you want - code is Dim intRefreshRt: intRefreshRt = 10000 '10 Second Refresh Rate in Milliseconds1 second equals 1000 milli seconds. It is already set to 10 seconds so should refresh every so often You can go through the hta code and ammend any coding if you want Its basically a hta ( HTML Application - using wmi - windows management instrumentation ) to ping a list of devices which you can ammend through the hta or via the text file and it will monitor those devices every so often , in this case every 10 seconds have had to rename the hta to a txt file type so just rename the copy of working connectivity monitor to hta file extension and leave hostlists.txt the same unless you want to ammend the hosts in it and ensure they are in the same directoryhostslist.txtCopy of Working Connectivity Monitor.txt
