MacBriar Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Hi We have 15 macbooks bound to our server 2003 AD. To manage preferences for these we have bought in a mac mini running OSX server. The server is bound to AD and OD is running as per the guides. I have created a pupils OD group and added to it our AD students ou's (one for each year group), I can set preferences but they are not applying to the macs. Our AD structure is; Default domain Students 2001 (users in these ou's) 2002 2003 Staff (staff users in these ou's) Interesting in Workgroup manager I can see all the groups with the exception of the students group. Anyone got any ideas why prefs aren't coming down?
Boon72 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 some of the preferences work on the user and some on the computers, which one's are you trying to set?
MacBriar Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 We want to be able to control; the applications that appear in the dock the available printers the automatic mounting of a read only share called Public that is on our AD the setting of proxies for internet access
Boon72 Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 the proxy can be done on the user accounts, some of the applications are on the user and some on the computer accounts. the printers i've just left them for the users to choose from the 2 on my servers, but they could be done through WGM (not sure how this works) the public drive may be an issue as default OS X has them available on the server and clients.
