Attaching a Sims database error

I'm trying to attach a backup of our Sims database but getting the following error every time.

The backup was made with DBattach and is called .

 

I've tried making a backup of the blank database, then re-attaching it and I get the same error so it must be something I'm doing wrong :/

 

If I click ignore, the database is copied but It doesnt work when you try to login.

Oh sorry,

 

The error is that it cant find the .ldf file

I'm just looking at the dbattach executable, can anyone tell me the latest version? I'm using 1.11.1.0 here. Maybe I'm using an older one?

are you trying to attach to a remote server, i.e. SQL running on another machine?

When using Dbattach you do not want to have the sims.mdf and sims.ldf inside the data folder.

 

The attach process will copy these file in itself.

 

They need to be outside this folder somewhere

Thanks guys, I think it was the /RESTOREUI thing I was missing.

 

In the end I restored it using Management studio, copied the MDF and LDF, removed it from management studio. Then Attached using DBAttach and it worked correctly.

 

It really would be useful if capita wrote a useful error message on dbattach for these situations(people trying to restore the .bak file) but yet again this forum has saved me
