Those NC10's run Windows 7 really well if you fancied it. My housemate ran Ubuntu on his NC10 and I must say it ran like a dream. Everything seemed to just work too.

Check that it is the 6-cell NC10, as the last one i saw in Comet (with a half-price Norton offer) was just the 3-cell.

Note that "KA02UK" isn't the full part number for the NC10 (never mind how many cells) and includes the N120 (NP-N120-KA02UK), N130 (NP-N130-KA02UK), N140 (NP-N140-KA02UK), N510 (NP-N510-KA02UK) as well as various NC10s!

I think that the "02" bit is the colour?

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with the 3 cell battery. I've never used it but my 6 cell version lasts 5-8 hours depending on usage.

Me and my housemate also found that the battery seems to last longer on Windows 7 than it does on Ubuntu.

Thanks guys. Think I might go get one at the weekend then and stick ubuntu on it. Read somewhere about a possible issue with the mouse pad thing. Was more worried about wifi drivers but as long as they work thats great. I take it is worth getting the RAM upgrade. Does Ubuntu allow 2GB ram ?

You can use the built in Samsung recovery tools to image the HD to an external drive before trying Ubuntu, that way if it goes wrong you can factory restore.
