Office 2007

I know this sounds wierd, but i have one teachers machine in an ICT classroom, they have office 2007 aswell as office 2003 on there machine for teaching reasons (kids use 2003), but suddenly one morning the teacher comes in and says his office 2007 has been uninstalled, thort it was a bit wierd but just reinstalled it and left it at that, he shut down his computer at 3 o'clock, to leave, then relised he needed to send an email, so turned it back on again. office 2007 has gone. i had left early so he couldn't do anything, but told me the next day, so i went down there, installed office 2007 again, then restarted the machine while sitting there, logged back in again, and it was gone! no registry entries, nothing, cheaped add/remove properties to see if that had anything in there, nope.

 

so im rather confused as i have googled it and have come up with nothing, and have a rather persistant teacher nagging me that he can't get on office, ( i did just tell him to use 03, but he wasn't having it!)

 

Anybody heard of anything similar?

You cannot easily have 2003 and 2007 on the same machine as they share some registry entries etc, sometimes one will just stop working all together. There are ways around this though - will explain soon unless somebody beats me to it!

My experience is that you (quite easily) can have 2003 and 2007 on the same machine, except for Outlook; it's Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007.

Yeah i had done that, but i have just noticed one entry that i didnt before, it is being uninstalled by a GPO that is installing the office 2007 compatabilty pack!, im going to remove the gpo from that machine and see what happens!

Yes, that sounds about right. Amazing how much time the event logs can save
