PowerPoint 2007 - No text converter is installed for this file type

Trying to open a PowerPoint created in Office 2007 and the following message is displayed 'No text converter is installed for this file type'

 

Have checked the microsoft forums but have had no luck in locating a fix, any ideas?

 

It was a member of staff that created the PowerPoint, it just has text and images, other PowerPoints they have created work fine.

Could the file be corrupt? Sounds like PP can't read it.

I would of thought it would be a different error message of some sort if it had become corrupt. I was thinking it could be some text used in the PP that isn't installed in the version we use at work but if that's the case how do I overcome this?

I quickly Googled No text converter is installed for this file type and it appears leco maybe right. It could be because the file is corrupt.

Can openoffice open it?

Or it could be that the PP file includes an object that PP cannot read. It doesn't have to be a text object, may be video or graphic embedded, without the source. Remember MS display all kinds of error messages, not necessarily connected to the actual error, just to be "helpful".

OpenOffice displays the error 'General Error. General input/output error'.

 

Yeah I must agree the PP must be corrupt however the user can open the PP on their laptop.

Ah then there may be a local file that is not embedded in the PP. Have you tried the Package for CD ... option?

User has resaved PP on laptop and brought to work and it now works ok. Something must have become corrupt when it was saved the first time. Thanks for the help.
