Mouse takes for ever to move pointer on the screen.

Hello All.

I have 4 computers (W2K pro. Compaq Deskpro 350/6.4 ) that the mouse is a pain to use, now I have just re-imaged all the computers (30) these four are still the same, you move the mouse and it takes for ever to move on the screen .

All these computers have had new 'flash' Bios but still same problem.

I have changed the mouse, but just the same.

Correct graphics drivers?

Try swapping mice with 'known good' units. This will elliminate the actual mice. If they are PS/2 then try a USB and vice versa to narrow down the possibilities.

Sounds obvious, but do these have a reasonable amount of RAM (with 2000 there is a noticeable speed increase between 64MB and 128MB).

 

Other than that, check the graphics drivers and even the graphics cards (swap with ones that work in other machines).

Did anyone think to check the mouse sensitivity in the control panel?

Insufficient ram sounds good. what are the specs of these machines? Is the ram good? Is the hard drive thrashing?
