Disabling PCI express fibre card in the Bios on Dell 1950?

Hi there,

I am running a Dell 1950 series 3 with an emulex fibre card in it running against a SAN. I need to disable a fibre card so that i can install vmware esx safely onto the local storage. I need to make sure that the fibre card is disabled as I do not want to install ESX on the wrong partition over the top of our production data. Normally i would just unplug the fibre cable from the back of the server but it is located at the other end of the m62 (an hours drive away!).

Is there a way i can do this remotely? The server has a DRAC remote access card in it.

Thanks

I do not think this is possible. I have just spoken to Dell Gold support and they didnt know how to do it. I spotted a video on the net on a HP DL server and they set the IRQ number to disabled but on the Dell servers you can only cycle the numbers!

Instead i went onto the SAN and moved the host machine out of the storage group so it could no longer see the drives/luns on the SAN. I dropped the host machine back into the group once i had finished!

Just thought i would keep everyone posted.

Thanks
