Boon72 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 on 1 of my 4 Mac sites i look after, i cant access the server via either ARD or Screen Sharing, 3 of the sites are the same setup and the other 2 work ok the Server remote management is on I can use ARD to access all the iMacs on the network it just seems to be the Server that i cant access. any ideas?
SC-UK Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Hating to state the obvious and I'm sure you have checked this but is the firewall on the server turned on/set up differently to that on the workstations? If not, I would still try setting it to "Allow all incoming connections" for a minute and see if this lets you connect. I have seen this happen before and turning turning this option on, before reverting back to normal again resolved it. Tom
SC-UK Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Also, try creating a user in workgroup manager and giving them access to use remote desktop. Then set the remote desktop to run using that users connection credentials - see if that makes any difference either?
Boon72 Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 the firewall is not on and im connecting as the administrator, in finder i can connect to the server for shares but not screen sharing (or ARD) using the same info
Boon72 Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 i can screen share from the server to a machine but not the return and ARD still wont connect. according to the ports 5900 is open but there's no mention of 3283 any ideas how i can open this up? ive been trawling for the terminal commands but so far haven't found what i need
