Paint Shop Pro

Hello We are running paint shop pro on all our computers. We recently put in place 29 new machines and now when the students click on paint shop pro it asks them to select user directory but only shows up desktop. If you click ok on desktop it just repeats as the user directory is U:\. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

It sounds like either it's just a shortcut and it's looking for files in the U:\ drive or, the software has been installed on a server and you're trying to run it across a network. Probably not a good idea for an application like PSP.

It is installed on the local machines and then we want the user directory to point to U:\ as that is the students home directory were they store all their documents but when it comes up to select the user directory it only has desktop and nothing else, not even any of the folders or files that are on the dektop. Could there be something in group policy that may have been set or anything?

If you open MS Word on the same machines and you navigate to File > Open, what happens?

Did you manage to find an anwser? I had the same problem.

 

I managed a work round, lucky for me we only got 4 computers to fix.

 

Here is what I did.

 

1. Create a share on the local to allow everyone full access.

2. Reinstalled PSP7

3. As administrator run PSP7 and point templates to local share.

4. Logon as normal user run PSP7, if it asks for file location point it again to local share.

We found a script to run to do it. The students user drives point to u:\ so we ran the script and it automatically done it for us.

I'm not quite sure why you've needed a script as I've deployed PSP7 to lots of sites. How are you mapping the home drives or U:\ drive in this case? There are several ways and I suspect this may possibly be the problem.
