ticker Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I’ve tried to find company’s that supply the above product put no one has got back to me with a price yet. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a company they have got the product off and the price they paid. What is it with sales people when u want something they never ring back or email but annoy u when they want u to buy something?

contink Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Not sure of the differences but I do know that Winstall have a newer version which is no longer free. Free's good but I am curious as to just what benefits the newer (and costs money) version offers, if any?
ticker Posted August 15, 2006 Author Posted August 15, 2006 I’ve asked around to see if any one has MS server 2000 so I could take it of their, we only have MS server 2003, but no luck so far! So that’s why its looking like I am going to have to purchase it. Cheers for the link Ben, I’ve already downloaded the evaluation version, and had a go and was impressed that’s why I like to find a reseller to purchase it of.
plexer Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 http://www.wininstall.com/resell_template.asp?hregion=europe&partype=resell That give you all the european resellers. Scroll down to the uk. Wininstalleurope being one dell being another. Ben
ticker Posted August 15, 2006 Author Posted August 15, 2006 Cheers for that been in contact with the sales guy from wininstall europe and he's going to email over some prices, which from what he said didn't seem to bad.
plexer Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Cool please post the prices when you get them for future reference. Ben
ticker Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 Here are the prices for the WinINSTALL MSI Packager Pro Console v8.7 plus maintenance which gives u a total cost of: £1,479.00 But he recommends that I get the whole lot which is WinINSTALL 8.7 DMS - single node license for 200 client plus maintenance: £3,426.
plexer Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I need to go for a lie down after reading that. So the wininstall le 2003 version is still free? Ben
ZeroHour Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I use WinINSTALL 8.7 DMS. I have been on the training too. Def buy maintenance if you going for DMS (version 9 is on the way and it will be coming with a vista rollout tool in the future too) I take it you spoke to "Steve" If you have any questions I can answer most of them
ITWombat Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 At these type of prices wouldn't it be better to go for one of the big boys, Wise IntallShield?
DMcCoy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I hate installshield, it makes applications such a pain to distribute. The fact that it often produces an exe which *has* to run the msi due to the fact that the exe installs installshield components if they are missing utterly defeats the point of them even using an msi in the first place! Oh I use Wininstall DAS, although only been using it on a larger scale more recently, I'll let you know if it works well in two weeks!
ZeroHour Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Let me know if you have any probs DM as we have been using it alot here.
