I've just DL'd the Sophos software (es311sfx) to install on a Server 2008 machine.

The install routine requests a restart due to "the system must be restarted before installing this product to allow prior file update operations to complete. (These operations were previously scheduled by another install or uninstall operation)". I restarted and ran es311sfx again - same message... and again and again. It's stuck in an endless loop of restart requests.

There's nothing pending so far as I can see, it's a new server, the only other app installed on it is SIMS. Nothing else has been installed or uninstalled.

I can find nothing in the Sophos FAQs about this issue.

Any ideas anyone?

I have also seen this error and cleared it in many instances.

Here is the Sophos KB that helped me cure it here: Link

I have usually only had to delete the SophosRebootTest.txt mentioned in the KB to get things working again.
