KMS 1.2 for Windows 2008..

All my shiny new Windows 7 PCs have 12 Days until activation (Tuesday)

 

WSUS 3.0 SP2

WSUS is being a bit hit and miss with Windows 7 clients - some get driver updates, others do not..

How are driver updates working out for you with WSUS?

 

I edged away from it because I couldn't bring myself to trust them after BSoD'ing a large number of laptops due to a driver update pushed via WSUS...

We dont send drivers out in the event of it messing something up. I have often found sound drivers on Microsoft Update cause problems.

Never had much issue with WSUS & drivers TBH..

 

Just a nightmare at the moment with Win7 insisting on stripping every sodding driver out after sysprep - even those that came with W7!

isnt there a section of sysprep that tells it not to strip drivers out there was in vista as it always striped out video card drivers for me. In the end i went back and altered my sysprep file and told it not to remove drivers

Yeah its the generalise checkbox , Though I would need about 4 different images due to HAL's, etc

 

I will look at getting this done for October

could you do it on an external drive(clone with ghost or similar without sysprepping) install 1 set of drivers move to the next pc install its drivers and so on so all driver are in the same image

Yay it worked! now to see if WSUS is a bit more reliable with Windows 7!
