farquea Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I was just wondering if anyone could suggest a better way to ghost our school laptops as currently we have to wheel the laptop trolley into the server room and plug in 30 network cables into the switch and then into each laptop and kick them off to norton ghost individually. We intend to switch to fog in the future and from playing around with that understand it could make it a little easier but until then i was just hoping someone could suggest a better way they currently go about this as its a pain in the arse and have to do a trolley before school starts next week.

sted Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 usually i just plug em in boot them normally and rebuild them from the ghost console only have to go to one if its being odd (latest version of ghost seems to be a bit crap at configuring them)
mac_shinobi Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 buy a 16 or 24 port gigabit switch - connect the gigabit switch to a gigabit port of some description and then connect as many computers to the remaining ports and away you go. Think linksys do a gigabit 16 port switch for about 100 or 150

Crispin Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 We use the IT suite opposite our office, put the laptops on top of each computer, use the network ports and you're sorted. Of course power supplies might be an issue...

Justy get a large USB drive and copy the image onto that and boot from CD, quick and simple
