VLANS L3 Switch Netgear Help

Hello,

 

I have the following switches:

 

GSM7312 (this is a netgear, L3 Switch with 12 Fibre or Copper Ports)

GS724T (This is a 24 Port L2 Netgear Switch)

 

 

My network:

 

VLAN 2 (Servers) VLAN IP 10.11.0.254/16

VLAN 3 (CompRoom1) VLAN IP 10.50.0.254/16

VLAN 4 (PhonesVOIP) VLAN IP 10.60.0.254/16

 

 

The GSM7312 allows routing between VLANS, hence each VLAN has IP assigned.

The GSM7312 supports 24 routed VLAN Ports with IP's

 

 

Problem:

 

I can not access VLANS on the L2 switch, apart from VLAN 4, (this was configured last)

It seems the last VLAN I add is the only one that works, i think this is because the L3 switch Port 7 VLAN ID is set to the last setup one. In this instance VLAN 4.

 

How can one port support multiple VLANS? I thought Tagging did this???

Configuration:

 

I have configured the following

 

GSM7312 L3 switch

 

has above VLANS setup with IPs

Port 7 is tagged in all VLANS

 

Links

 

Port 7 is linked via fibre to Port 24 on below switch

 

GS724T (L2 netgear 24 port switch

 

IEEE 802.1x enabled

VLANS setup on switch as per L3 switch

Ports 1-4untagged +24tagged VLAN 2

Ports 5-8untagged +24tagged VLAN 3

Ports 9-12untagged +24tagged VLAN 4

Are you saying that ports 1-4 are in vlan 4 when you were expecting vlan 2? What happens if you disable 802.1X?

On the links between switchs u must have one vlan untaged and set as the primery vlan to carry all other vlans between switches. This is normaly the managment vlan1. E.g. Switch 1 uplink should be configed to vlan 1 untaged and all other vlans taged with vlan 1 set as primary vlan. Do exactly the same on switch 2 and wen links ar conected all vlan trafic should now pass between switchs.

Got it all working this morning, Logged onto Edugeek to post my resolve, but notice MicrodigitUK had posted the resolve as well.

 

I forgot about the management VLAN needing to be untagged, so all sorted now!
