mattx Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Gave up 10 years ago - still have the odd cigar, about once a year but that's about it. I could easily start up again though - I find the craving never seems to go away.....

Hightower Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I don't think it's meant to be funny - I think it's meant to carry a point. I gave up this year - been 7 months now. Don't think about them at all now, long may it continue :-)
6Foot2 Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 And that's funny how? Sorry if I caused offence. I really did not mean to. I just posted it in the thread in this forum because it seemed the most appropriate. I honestly did not intend it to be interpreted as 'humorous' As a smoker who intends to quit shortly I thought it made the point that I should be quitting quite succinctly. I will try to ensure that future posts are not open to the same misinterpretation. I again offer my apologies for any offence I may have caused.
ahuxham Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Then the post is in the wrong forum, this is mean for jokes, funny things and various other related content. I had a close friend die of Cancer, and irregardless of smoking, or any other form; Cancer is not a joke in the slightest. DaveP: No need to apologise, you do as you wish, I just took offence to it, but thats fine, we don't all agree on everything Just, there may be people concious about cancer, or know someone thats passed away due to cancer
Hightower Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 This forum is entitled Jokes & Interweb things - surely that image can be classed as an interweb thing. I understand a lot of cancer cases have nothing to do with smoking - I've got family with the illness. But I also understand that a lot of cases are directly related to smoking, and I've also got family who's cancer is caused by this. I wish I could get them to give up smoking, but that's not going to happen. I think the original post was not meant to make anybody laugh - it's meant to carry a certain level of truth. "If you smoke, you have a great risk of getting cancer". The message is simple, don't read into it any more than that
