CS4 dreamweaver running as student woes

I've got CS4 installed on the new network, silent command line installs, s'all good.

 

Going back to the CC3 network that we need to keep for a bit and the silent installs dont work...

 

anyway, I don't care about that too much. My main concern is that once installed photoshop-CS4 runs fine, but Dreamweaver seems to need to recreate a menus.xml file that is currently only located in the admin/appdata/adobe/dreamweaver/en/config/menus/cache folder and refuses to run

 

anyone came across this and could they shed any light on how to fix it??

Is this on a vanilla or a CC4 network? If it's a vanilla network, i would suspect the reason(s) it doesn't work on CC3 is because the MSI needs to be RM'ed and secondly software restriction policies are extremely strict, too strict in my opinion and this can create a whole load of problems for running new applications.

From experience Dreamweaver and other Adobe titles are a nightmare to install using the silent install option, if I were you i would ave yourself the hassle and problems (as there will be many) an just buy the RM Package, as they mostly work out of the box.

Its for a CC3 system.... Admin is fine, student refuses to run Dreamweaver as cant load menus.xml and Illustrator just bombs out. I'm not bothered that it doesn't install silently, its that it just it refuses to load as a student.

 

I've no problems on the new vanilla network, silent installs from SCCM

Have you checked the permissions of the folder where menu.xml resides?? I do remeber something about it trying to write back when opening the program.

 

Try using FileMon for Windows and RegMon for Windows to discover what is being accessed then check against what pupils have access to. This may solve your problems.
