Att those cursed with notebook trolleys.

We currently don't have any notebooks connected to our network but SLT would like us to buy a notebook trolley with 15 notebooks to try. Currently we use group policy to deliver software to our connected workstations as this is not an ideal solution for wireless notebooks how do you all manage software on your notebooks. Currently I can only think of preparing one notebook with all required software and then imaging them or using something like SMS that can throttle delivery for slow connections.

Anyone care to part with information on how you do it?

Cheers.

We had 10 on our trolley. Seprertate gpo for them too. I would book them out once a month and bring them up to my office and get them all online at once and then apply whatever gpos / updates etc that the rest of the network may have had during the past month. Our laptops were ancient HPs though and gave us no end of problems just coz they were so slow and out of date

This would be the best approach initially, then the only updates that need to be 'pushed' over the network would be AV and Windows updates. If lots of other applications suddenly need installing, then linking them up via ethernet temporarily or creating another new image would be the best option.
