GPO/Reg entry/Batch converter to force image compression in Powerpoint?

Does anyone know how to set this as a default in powerpoint? I'm aware it's the default in 2007 (woohoo) but I'd like to bulk-process the legacy ones.

Thinking about it, batch processing them to resave as 2007 format and delete the original should work as well, right?

I've had a look at Office 2003's ORK Tools and I cannot see any policies relating to this. You can do it in PowerPoint 2003, but it requires you to do it manually. I don't believe you can switch it on by default as with Office 2007.

I wish there was a switch for this too badly. Teachers NEVER do it and they get HUGE powerpoints for it.

That's my reason. That and the kids have never been taught to compress / resize images after/before importing into powerpoint.

It's worth looking at the scan functionality in the same toolkit as well:

Install and configure OMPM File Scanner

You'll need a SQL instance if you're doing all docs school-wide - I'm currently testing on a copy of archived homedirs from last years leavers.
