I was thinking we are always trying to find ways to make life easier in reporting problems. I was thinking of having a report this computer script/exe that staff can run from the start menu. That gets machine name, login name and asks them to enter a short description of the problems and sends it all to an email address.

Anyone got anything like that before I start coding something....

Not got a script like that but we used to use a web page to do it - it's easier to do validation etc and you can put the data straight into the helpdesk system.

It's also worth using the page to check if a fault has already been reported on that machine - makes it look good if you can say to the user "Fault already reported" (as long as it doesn't say "4 months ago" :-)

Russdev,

I have something like this you can use, have not used it in awhile so it may need testing on Windows 7.

If you want it i'll dig it out for you.
