Mapped Network Drives

hey everyone,

 

i have an issue today which i was wondering if anybody had come accross so far in windows 7.

 

we use sims and targeter here which both require mapped network drives to be connected in order to use them.

 

in this case the mapped network drive i am using is S:\

 

for some reason i can go into the S:\ drive no worries, look around and load files, however when trying to install sims or targeter they can not see them, which means i can't install them.

 

any ideas???

dont use the drive path use the server path

 

eg Server name= Jeff

 

instead of S:\sims

 

use \\jeff\sims

 

i had this problem other day dunno why, also i had to use compatability mode xpsp3 when running sims aswell first time when you have to locate the connect.ini file. dunno why but its working fine now so bare these things in mind

To me it sounds as though the S:\ drive is mapped correctly, but you may need to enable hidden files, as *.ini might be a hidden file extension.

that worked, put the server path in and sims went straight into it, then strangly targeter suddendly was asble to see s:\ but im not too bothered as to why as long as it works now. cheers

Keep me informed as to how your sims is working on windows 7 if you dont mind mate, im getting grief again with ours not many people use it in our office to be honest.

I had the same problem but was able to run sims as administrator first time to solve it. However it seems that the network drives are not connected for the impersonated administrator account so I had to browse for the file in order to connect the drive. Sims does work flawlessly after this first config though.

just a quick question, are you using the 32 bit or the 64 bit

32 bit, i also located the connect.ini that way but it has stopped working now for some reason. ill have a play later ive got work to do now
