laserblazer Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 We've just converted a storeroom into a meeting/nurture room around 4m x 4m. I will be putting in a small switch and expect at least one computer plus laptop provision. There's no heating, so it will need a fire in winter. Currently, they are having 2 double sockets installed. How many would you go for?
CyberDrac Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Personally about 8, it's not the quantity it their location, making sure that there is nowhere in the room which is out of reach of a standard, non-taut, flex of about 2 metres in length would be the ideal, with possibly wall sockets at low and high levels to deal with fixed and mobile powered devices and for users who may not be able to reach traditional low level sockets. 1
localzuk Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 As CyberDrac says, it's all about location. Look at what is going to be installed and where, and where people may be sitting, and site sockets accordingly. Also, take into account the various laws of nature which pretty much guarantee that whatever you install, it won't be enough... 1
krisd32 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 double sockets in each corner of the room would suffice.
penfold Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Always plan for more, even if they are not all used at the same time. You can gaurentee people will start to want a printer/scanner in the room soon enough. And as people have said, look at the locatoin as you dont want to be using extention cables after you have had sockets installed.
elsiegee40 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 When I had my kitchen installed, the best advice I had was 'Have a double every metre and a half' that way it won't matter what you decide to do... The electrician was right. I can move things round, to suit now and still have room for the family's mobile phones on charge! On a room the size you are talking about, that would be 2 or 3 doubles on each wall. It sound like overkill, but... what's the point in needing extension leads in a new room?
Andrew_C Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Take the maximum number you think you will sensibly use, then double it. The architect/school will try to cut you down, so you have somewhere to go (only drop to 3/4 the total you ask for!)
