Hi

This morning when we came it some of our switches were on and flashing but we had no network and I could not telnet into them. There were two 2650 in one cab and a 4108 and a 2650 in another cab all the same, lights on no one home. In procurve manager it showed a warning symbol by them. Could the switches have overheated? is there any way of finding out there temperature? I thought it was strange it was only two cabs that were affected and all switches in the cabs.

I had to reset the switches to wake them up

Any ideas why

Thanks

Is spanning tree enabled? if not it could have been a loop. There are only a few of the larger and PoE switches that have temperature sensors iirc.

I had this with a 2650 here, rebooted it and it went into a reboot loop. Are you able to get onto it with a serial cable? In the end mine went back to HP as the flash chip was fried (not sure why in a rack of 8 it chose that one?!?!?)

Just a thought:)

Although this won't help you this time, set up remote syslog for all your switches, you'll at least maybe know what the switch was up to when it crashed then. You can check the log on the switch as well but they're not too keen on reboots and the log buffer is quite small.
