Darryl_Wilcox Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 For the proxy, what if you don't have to use a username and password to get through it? I haven't been prompted for a username and password is just comes up with *Checking package: apache2 ... failed!
bamin Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Hi Guys Im new to this Forum and this is my first post. Im trying to Install FOG and I am getting this error as well "Apache2 Failed" Looking at the previouse threads it sounds like it maybe to do with proxy settings? My internet only works with a proxy settings, turning the proxy off will not work for me. Is there anyway round this. Im desperate to get this working.... Any help will be Appreciated. Thanks Amin
bamin Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I have managed to sort this out now. I took the server to another place of work which doesnt require Proxy settings and installed FOG there. All works fine now.
Chad Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) You can set proxy settings in your /etc/environment file on your Linux server (on Ubuntu anyway), along the lines of: http_proxy="http://username:password@host:port/" https_proxy="http://username:password@host:port/" Which works fine for most proxies. However, if your proxy uses NTLM authentication, rather than a username/password passed explicitly, then you'll need to use something like NTLMAPS to authenticate for you. You then set the host:port in the proxy settings to the IP:Port of the box running NTLMAPS (the port defaults to 5865) Edited July 6, 2011 by Chad switch off damned smileys! 1
anubis Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Going back to the original problem, I am running on the latest server of Kubuntu (as of 19/9/2011) and am trying to do FOG. I make it through everything, but as mentioned, Apache2 fails. I can't do sudo apt-get install either, this is the error message I get: sudo apt-get install firefox //as a test\\ Reading package lists... Error! E: Encountered a section with no Package: header E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists.us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. Help, please?
bamin Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 HI I had the same problem. I resolved it by using a non proxyed internet connection. Sudo apt-get doesnt work if the server is sitting behind a internet proxy server. Hope this helps. Amin
mats Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 apt-get works if you tell it about the proxy. We're behind embc so /etc/apt/apt.conf contains this (only) - Acquire::http::proxy "http://proxy.embc.uk.com:80/"; Acquire::ftp::proxy "ftp://proxy.embc.uk.com:80/"; Acquire::https::proxy "https://proxy.embc.uk.com:80/";
