Morning all,

I visit a local Primary school each Wednesday morning to look after PC problems. I am more of an engineer than Server specialist.

This morning I arrived and was told that staff can view but not write to the Public folder.

Permissions are "Everyone Full Control".

Security is:

Admin/Domain Admin/Staff - Full Control

Everyone - Read and Execute.

The school is using Server 2k3 and Win XP Pro clients.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks

Gary

Go to the Security Tab of Properties and click on the Advanced Button

Choose the Effective Permissions tab and try out individual users and the Staff Group to see what's happening.

It may be that while the Public folder has Full Control, the sub-folders are not inheriting permissions... you may well see the magic words on permissions for the sub-folders!

Also check the time on the client machine is within that whats on the server. If they are more than 5 mins out kerberos will not work. Also try rebooting the client machine.
