gpo software restrictions

i m wondering how you can install software to all mavhines but for example only have sims.net shortcut show in the start menu for staff? i m from an RM bavkground, is there a setting in GPO for this? grateful for any help

not easily done but the way i would attempt would be to point the start menu at a local folder and deploy a short cut to sims to that folder when sims is deployed.

 

other than that set up a vb app to sync which programs are installed to which icons are available.

From what I see Server 2008 improves this, is that true?
