I was on O2's simplicity deal for a time, which although isn't PAYG, is only a one-month rolling contract. £20 for a load of messages and minutes, and you get to pick an 'extra'. I picked unlimited data, and it worked well.

3 for me.

I paid 15 for a month or 3gig. Discovered I only used 800meg, so now I pay just 10 a month for a connection. Marvelous!:D

I've got a Three SIM and the contention ratio where I work is crap (two others at school have it as well and they experience problems when I do.)

PAYG is the way to go - I'm near the end of my contract and will be cancelling. The alternative to PAYG is a 1-month rolling contract. I know several of the companies do these - could you buy a PAYG dongle (or an unlocked one if cheaper) and then stick in one of these SIM only deals.

£15 a month buys you 5GB on a rolling contract as opposed to 3Gb payg. Alternatively if it is for light use then Vodafone charge £15 for 1Gb but it doesn't have an expiry time so you can stretch it over a few months.

(I got a free one from here - don't know if the offer is still on, but £5 for an unlockable dongle seemed a good buy)

T Mobile, may have the best data rate/package, but they have the worst coverage across the UK... or more precisely my T Mobile phone doesn't work within my school, although every other network does....
