Dunno where this belongs: software? hardware? If anyone knows, please move it!!

One of our newer Dell laptops (Dell 520 I think ) which has Vista on it,() lost its VGA output. Dell agreed, sent an engineer, changed the motherboard. Worked that day, then wouldn't switch on the next day, with or without battery, different power adaptor, with or without hard drive etc etc.

So they came back

The note they left appears to say: replaced MBo DIMM AC adaptor

Now?

After about 10 minutes the hotkeys start to work all by themselves. You then have to press 'L' to lock the machine, then unlock it and you get another 10 mins

I have followed all instructions to disable all the hotkeys, both using a download and doing it manually.

I have put a call in to Dell, but I just wondered if anyone else had come across this and could help?

Is it likely to be the motherboard again?

Probably the motherboard. We are a 100% Dell site so get dell repairs done regular.

They used refurbished parts. 99% of the time they are perfect but i have had a few occasions where the replacement part is faulty.
