Bypassing BIOS passwords

Found a link to this site on digg this morning, Yes I know you can usually just remove the battery or short some pins but that usually trashes your BIOS config, this just bypasses the password!

It's a nice idea, but I haven't seen any of these 'backdoor' passwords word since we last had 486's and old Pentium 75s and even then I was lucky if they did...

most bios's now dont even reset when you remove the batter anymore, so im guessing backdoor, manufacturer passwords arent gonna crack it either

A lot of dell workstations and laptops still use these as we have found. Don't know if the latest models allow though ours are a couple of years old.

I use CmosPwd to reset bios passwords. Works on most things.

i had real problems with one that wouldn't reset Packard Bell i-connect.

The machine was crapthough so not that fussed. Annoyed te hell out of me though

I actually made one of those by stripping down a parallel cable for just the connector and solder the left over bits of wire as connections on the back of it... Worked a treat as luck would have it...
