lionsl2005 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Dear all, i did clone a pc hard disk Dell optiples 755 150 GB to a new Dell optiples 760 250GB. after cloning i attached the hdd to 760. when starting it loading up to windows xp is loading and giving me a blue screen. and ask me to check the CHKSDK/F. what i ma doing wrong?
bladedanny Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Boot up from a XP install cd and press r when prompted to enter the recovery console (not repair installation). Follow the prompts to select the disc and username/password. Then at the prompt type chkdsk /r and press enter. Let that run through (can take ages), reboot and see if that works. Hope this helps, Dan
ricki Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi I know this will be a silly question but was the image from exactly the same motherboard. If its not then you would get this sort of thing. Try a repair install from a windows xp cd. Richard
PRicho Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 You might have to change the Sata compatiblity mode in the bios from AHCI to ATA 1
bladedanny Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 You might have to change the Sata compatiblity mode in the bios from AHCI to ATA I'd agree to try this first as it's much quicker than chkdsk, and i've also come across this, mainly on HP laptops. 1
